Danny and I celebrated our ten year anniversary earlier this month with a five day trip to Hawaii. After ten years of four children, job stresses, diapers, homeschool attempts, animal deaths (a lucky few will know the grisly details of our latest deceased pet), diapers, family trips, weight gain, Sunday mornings of awesome worship, great friends, even better family, and still more diapers, and a little weight loss, we felt we deserved to live a little.
So after prepping his eager farmer subs for his absence, Danny was ready to hit the road. And after mapping out a color-coded childcare chart for our many (amazing!!) babysitters, I was ready too. Oh yeah, and we packed a few things...Danny wishes I had inserted "bikini" here, but, four kids in 3 years and twins and lack of exercise leading up to Hawaii trip equals one piece. This is my reality!
I love that just arriving in the tiny island of Hawaii airport, where you deboard old-school style, down a ramp from the plane onto the tarmac, put my husband in another state of mind. I think I literally saw his shoulders relax and his watch start ticking just a little slower when he caught a glimpse of the ocean. He didn't mind that I'd forgotten to reserve a car rental, that was no problem at all! We could just rent a cab, and $78 dollars for a fifteen minute trip...no problem.
Ten years earlier when we landed in Kauai for our honeymoon, this is exactly what Danny did. He didn't even change into his swimsuit, he just walked straight to the clear blue water. So I love that he did the same thing when we arrived in Hawaii this time around.
We couldn't stop smiling. Seriously giddy with joy.
Ahhhh....
This is my all-time favorite picture from our trip. Danny is so incredibly relaxed and happy. I have so much love for this man!!
I took a whole lotta fun water pics with my feet in them. Why, you might ask? Must I remind you of the former one-piece comment earlier? Yeah, that puppy doesn't need to be on camera.
And here is how we ate in Hawaii. Teeny, tiny, gorgeous nibbles. Actually this is just a little sample appetizer the chef handed out to everyone before the main course, but isn't it beautiful?! Yep, I was the dork taking food pictures with my iphone during a fancy dinner!
Love
We are just an hour or so from boarding the plane for home in this picture. Even our toes are yearning to stay in a place where they can caress the sand.
Happy anniversary to my best friend! Thank you for the most romantic, fun, idyllic, blessed trip. I look forward to many more!
