When living in a house with four kids under age six, the little things are really quite a big deal. Take what happened today. My oldest daughter, Emma, has had a loose front tooth for about two months now. Back in February, she bumped it pretty hard, so it loosened, and we thought it was going to fall out. But it was one of those hanger-oners. The little bugger re-attached! However it reconnected with her gums in a not so perfect place. In fact, my beautiful, lovely girl has been walking around with a straight up, forward facing, buck tooth. Not that there's anything wrong with that.
As you can see, her bucked little buddy didn't stop her from enjoying the singing concert.
Her crazy tooth also wasn't really a hindrance to enjoying Fair food. She favored one side when biting, but it wasn't a big deal.
But today was the big day! She accidentally butted her knee into her tooth, and it loosened up quite a bit, that sucker was ready to vacate the premises!! In tears almost all afternoon due to the heightened anxiety of this loose tooth, Emma could hardly believe it when with just a slight twist, the tooth came right off into my hand. Ahhh.....the tears were those of pure joy.
Yep, that's one happy 6 year old.
I've never seen a cuter gap.
So later that evening, after sticking her beloved tooth into a plastic baggie, Emma wrote up her letter to the tooth fairy. One point of clarification must be made. Emma had already lost her two bottom front teeth, but each time, she swallowed the teeth while eating. So each time she had to write a letter to the tooth fairy describing what happened, and begging for understanding due to the swallowing of the teeth. Well, the tooth fairy, being an understanding and compassionate kind of gal, still gave Emma her $1 and a lovely, rhyming note of congratulations.
So here's the letter to be placed under her little pillow tonight along with that gigantic front tooth. I have a feeling that the tooth fairy is going to be very generous this time around.
