The Hunt

An Easter egg hunt is a chance for kids of all ages to skip about in the grass, gleefully gathering up eggs, and rejoicing in the beauty of springtime. The hunt is also an opportunity to see how kids handle a group competition, which, let's face it, can get ugly. But seriously, one can learn a lot about kids from observing their skills in this purely fun springtime celebration.

Some kids snack as they go.

While others enjoy the view from atop their very own throne.

Some don't take the hunt too seriously, and prefer to pick up only the prettiest eggs.

The big boys prefer to search the perimeter of the yard, pretending they are deep in the desert. Maybe they'll come across some buried treasure, a golden egg, or just a forgotten yard tool.

Some kids just know they're super cute, and choose to focus on that skill instead of participating in the hunt. She's like, "Eggs? I'm over it! But check out my cute dress, matching bow, and sweet pacifier too!"
Still other kids have moms who forget to bring enough baskets, so they are forced to walk around the yard aimlessly with a sweet fireplace shovel, since it's the most realistic tool they are allowed to have.
And then this same kid finds his grandpa, and all is right with the world. Well, at least their world.
Now some kids take the hunt very seriously.

This kid was given an enormous basket, and felt totally compelled to fill the whole thing.

Oh, the hunt was so very real for her.
Each egg became a challenge. A challenge to not only reach down and snatch up the egg before some other eager hunter grabbed it, but a challenge to lift up that incredibly heavy basket after the 100th egg or so.
Some kids are just born with natural skills in egg hunting. What can I say? It's a gift. And no, she can no longer lift it anymore, but that was always the goal, right?!
And after every egg had been gathered, and the adrenaline high was quickly being replaced with the all too familiar sugar high, the kids moved on to other actitivities. In this case, a bubble machine was just the right distraction for those hunters feeling a bit low after the thrill of the hunt.

Nice commentary :)
I am still amazed at G's basket! The girl was in it to win it!!!
You must have noticed that Natty Bear would only pick up the purple eggs :)

Great party! Thank you
